The new school year is plagued with new challenges for school staff and parents to ensure that students are where they need to be starting day one.

One of these hurdles is ensuring that all students have their state-required and optional vaccinations and immunizations. Safe school enrollment in California involves a series of vaccinations meant to curb the incidence of communicable illnesses. However, it might be difficult for many families to arrange for the necessary vaccinations and medical treatment in time for the start of school. To alleviate this concern for everyone, Veritas Healthcare comes to your school to provide immunizations to new students in preparation for the start of the school year, serving children in grades K-12. Parents will be happy for the easy access, and your staff will be happy when all the students start the year with one less hitch. Find out how Veritas Healthcare can help your school community, contact us today for more information.

Putting Safety in Education First

To attend both public and private elementary and secondary schools in California, students are required by law to have specific vaccines. Therefore, every school must ensure that all students comply with the immunization mandate, keep accurate records of their students' vaccination status, and file the necessary reports. According to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the following are required:

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP, DTP, Tdap, or Td) – Five doses (exceptions exist for different scenarios)
  • Four doses of polio vaccine (OPV or IPV)
  • Three doses of hepatitis B
  • Mumps, rubella, and measles (MMR) — two doses (Both given on or after first birthday)
  • Two doses of varicella (chickenpox).

The TK/K-12 school requirements typically apply to 7th-grade pupils with a valid personal beliefs exemption submitted before 2016 when they entered between TK/Kindergarten and 6th grade or new admissions, including out-of-state students; they apply to all grades. All new student admissions from TK/K rising to 7th grade in California schools must check vaccination records before admittance. As evidence of immunization, parents must present their child's Immunization Record.

Students Stay In School

red checkmark iconWhat are the benefits of student vaccinations through Veritas?

California has traditionally been a destination for people out of state and country to better their lives. Unfortunately, this means we get new students each year that may or may not have had the required vaccinations to start their school year. This is an issue when we pair it with a lack of access for working parents who may not have the time or means to get their kids the care they need. Veritas helps to accommodate by bringing our team to where the parents are and ensuring that your students don't miss any of their precious education. You, in turn, get a healthier student body, a community of parents thankful for the support, and staff and faculty excited to see all of their students on day one.

Remove Excuses

Helping parents in your community overcome the obstacles that impede them from receiving even the most basic of healthcare is our primary goal.

While healthcare costs are rising and parents are working themselves to the bone to provide for their children, this will garner a positive response from those who will benefit the most from our services. In addition, your students will miss less school due to unexpected illnesses and won't spread it to those who cannot get vaccines for medical or religious reasons.
